How Ms. President Might Affect Women

Posted by Donna on Apr 30, 2008 at 3:45 PM
If Hilary Clinton were elected President of the United States, how might things change for American women in the workplace? Certainly, it would be empowering and exciting to see a women in power for the first time in history. An enormous glass ceiling would shatter as a result, possibly paving the way for other powerful women in different walks of life. But there are also potential shadows lurking behind all the excitement...a backlash, a revival of old stereotypes about women who "don't know their place" or are somehow less attractive/womenly when they are in power. So many women leaders have been negatively portrayed in the media, and some of it inevitably spills over to any woman who is a strong decision maker.

we are considering making a sukkah with our kids this year. this is all new to me because I didn't grow up Jewish. yet I feel more motivated than ever before to explore traditions and find meaning in them - it's an adventure.

Being Edith Piaf makes me feel melancholy. And makes me want to go to Paris.
